Nara Feature 1: The Nannendo at Kofukuji

Note: This Feature was made on October 10, 2001, as I visited the Yamato Area of old Japan. (MAP)

The Nannendo is located in central Nara, on the grounds of Kofukuji, which is number 9 of the Saigoku (Kansai) 33 Temples Sacred to Kannon. You can read about my visit to Nara in my Logbook.

This lovely little rokudo (six-sided hall) is dedicated to Kannon, the Goddess of Mercy. It is the only temple from the Saigoku circuit located in central Nara.
